Benny Goodman's most notable recording of "Sing Sing Sing" was a 12 minute version made at his famous Carnegie Hall concert in 1938. Gene Krupa did the long drum solos and Harry James played the trumpet solo. You can find an abbreviated ten minute recording of this concert on Youtube.

Here is the Wikipedia entry. Scroll down to "Carnegie Hall Concert" to read more about this historic event in the history of jazz.

Gene Krupa's work on this song was great. Incredible drummer.

Here's most of the song performed live at Carnegie Hallin 1938:

OK, Harry James engages him for a while, and he lets the Boss lead the way for a while but this is Gene Krupa's tune start to finish. We should all have at least one moment like this in our lives (or at least be able to listen to it!). :thumbup

Today is Benny Goodman's birthday. Happy birthday to the King of Swing.

The videos posted above have been removed from You Tube. Here is another one, supposedly the original 12 minute recording from the Carnegie Hall concert.
