Those rockers who survived the 60's and 70's are now in their 60's and 70's. We will probably be losing them at a steady rate over the next 10-15 years. Unfortunately, given current trends in popular music, I don't know if there is anyone waiting in the wings to replace them.

Im starting to think 74 is the new 27. While the count is only three (Kantner, Signe Anderson, Hicks)and the 27 club has Hendrix, Joplin , Morrison, Brian Jones, Cobain, Amy Winehouse its only the beginning of February.

Here is the only article I have seen on Dan Hicks' death. A native of the Bay Area, He died of cancer at age 74.
