Dave Brubeck - Take Five

My very first favorite jazz tune. It was on a jazz all star record my parents purchased through one of those record a month clubs sometime in the early 60's.

Paul Desmond reportedly wrote it to feature the quartet's drummer. Legend has it that Desmond was stuck in Vegas without a room, so he spent the night wandering around a casino. The sound of the slot machines inspired the beat of this 5/4 classic.
