"September Song" was written by Kurt Weill, with lyrics by Maxwell Anderson, for their musical, "Knickerbocker Holiday." As Peter Stuyvesant, Walter Huston -- the father of movie director John Huston and grandfather of actor Angela Huston -- originated this song on Broadway. Most of us remember Walter Huston as the old gold miner in John Huston's "Treasure of the Sierra Madre."
