To me the "Garage" sound is typified by jangling raw cleans and over-driven speaker distortion, backed with a staccato snare drum and an explicit lack of crashing cymbals. It is by far my favorite genera of Rock & Roll not only because of its distinct lack of over-processing but also because it's something I can do with a couple buddies and.... you guessed it, a garage.
