Here are three numbers to commemorate the birthday of Julian "Cannonball" Adderley (1928-1975). I believe he was one of the few jazz musicians of his era to have a college degree and no history of drug abuse.

And one of his most famous numbers, "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy". The liner notes of the original album said it was recorded live in a night club. It later came out that it had been recorded in a sound studio with a live audience to promote his friend's night club.
