Roger Linn Design - LinnStrument MIDI Controller NAMM 2015

Interesting controller. I think it would sound a lot better if he was driving better samples. Most of the sounds he was using were chincey. With some quality sounds/samples, I think that controller could be used for some really incredible stuff. The blues guitar sounded pretty decent. The lap guitar mostly sucked, but at the end when he did a two note slide, that sounded good. There's definitely a lot of control available. It would take considerable practice to play this really well, but since it's tuning is flexible, a guitarist could tune it in 4ths like a guitar and know the fingering right away. A violinist could tune it in 5ths.

Linn is most famous for one of the first drum machines and some of the early synthesized percussion modules. He was a pioneer in that area of electronic music.
