The Clash was one of my favorites. I saw them once with the Who in Oakland. I think I was nineteen. Me and a buddy split a quarter ounce of mushrooms, drove up the night before and slept in the Colosseum parking lot in a VW Rabbit diesel. It was an awesome show. I remember they carried their guitars super low and let them sway rhythmically while they played. They had some good spin-off bands like Big Audio Dynamite and Havana 3 am among others.
I remember Tom Petty playing that particular song once at Shoreline.
He sang it through his nose like
Droopy Dog and got booed off the stage. Everybody was yelling Go!
It's too bad about Joe Strummer.
